Welcome to Week 4 of PR 2, April 13-17

                                                    ANNOUNCEMENTS: 
  • MOCK INTERVIEWS- May 7 & 8. 
    You will need to have a passing resume to meet with a Business Partner. There are no scheduled make-ups for this assignment. If you miss the experience, you will need to request, schedule and complete  a make-up interview with one of our DD Administrators- Mr. Florez, Mr. Talley, Ms. Webster, Mr. Haner, Ms. Vancil by May 31.
  • If you need clothing for the Mock Interview: 
    GO TO THE COUNSELING OFFICE NOW TO ACCESS THE SCHOOLS CELTIC HEART CLOSE CLOSET. It is a FREE service. 
  • NEW!!!   DRESS FOR SUCCESS presentation- presented by Mrs. Brewer and Sanford of the College and Career Center-------- April 30th & May 1st.

    Resume activities grading policy- Each assignment will be graded twice only- when it is due for the first grading and once after it has been revised/edited/completed and turned in for a final regrade. 

Learning Targets: 
  1. Students will use personal experiences to generate a resume.
  2. Students will use business language to describe their work experience and skills
Vocabulary: 
  • Business language— is wording that is written in the third person, uses action verbs to describe concrete and tangible abilities and accomplishments, and with no abbreviations.
  • One-liners-- a sentence describing how you have already used the skills and abilities you plan to use in the job you chose for your objective.

Generating data for your resume- Step 5: Skills and One-Liners

  • YOU WILL NOT NEED YOUR COMPUTERS FOR THIS LESSON ACTIVITY.
    INSTRUCTIONS ARE ON THE HANDOUT.  See screen for examples. 
  1. Complete the handout with 6-9 one-liners started last class. 30 minutes.
  2. Group assessment: Score your one-liners in a small group. 
    Objective is to verify business language usage.
  3. Partner assessment: Switch papers with your partner sitting next to you and correct each other's papers- check for spelling, capitalization, punctuation and following instructions. Fix errors your partner finds. 
  4.   For those who wish to receive credit at Mt. Hood Community College, I will have about 10 minutes to sign up for the class.  The class is "HD110" and section "80".  For grade, use "LT".  You need to use an email address that is different than the schools since outside emails do not go to you.
    You will have to go to the Mt. Hood Community College to start the process.
