Monday, January 30, 2012

Dear Class:

Introduction; Google docs and Collections. This will encompass last_first_documents. We will also go over the rules.

Today we will examine the wide world of "Copyright" and "Netiquette". Please go to the Copyright Powerpoint

You will be completing on the following worksheet. After you finish the worksheet (the slide numbers are not correct so you will have to find the answers on your own!), you will look at slide 40 and analyze the four cases that are provided regarding copyright infringement. You will need to make your own copy of the worksheet and share it with me on your google docs.

We will go over the google doc part of this class. For those students unable to get into your account, you will fill it in and print it and hand it in on my desk.

For the analysis of the cases, slide 40 has 4 court cases in reference to Fair Use. Each case name is linked to a google presentation. I want you to create a grid on the back of your worksheet (if you had to print it out) or on a google doc create a grid and analyze whether the Purpose, Nature, Amount and Effect fall under Fair Use, and whether you think the court ruled copyright infringement or not.

Sincerely,
Mr. Green-Hite

The final project is two parts:
Computer (The Plan)
Paper (The Profile...last 3 pages of the packet)
Project is due on your Finals Day

2. Mock Interview Scores
I am handing back your Score Sheets. These are for you to keep. If your interviewer wrote details about your strengths and/or improvements, make sure to read and really think about them. Not everyone gets to go through this kind of a scenario and receive real-world advice. The information is invaluable.

Today is the last day to hand in any Interview/Resume worksheets in to the box on my table.

Tuesday & Wednesday, January 17 and 18, 2012

Dear Class:

We have a speaker from Everest here today. Please give her all courtesies in class. At the end of the presentation and there is extra classtime, please write up a thank you note to your interviewer from Friday. Please include something from your interview which you felt made it memorable. You may leave out the name and we will be putting it in and then handwriting the note on notecard I will provide you next class.

INTERVIEWS today in the LIBRARY!!!!!

Meet at the library...Be properly dressed and good luck!

Tuesday, January 10, 2012

Tuesday & Wednesday, January 10 & 11, 2012

Dear Students:

Today, our focus will be on the resumes: I want a final clean copy! I will have the rough ones you handed in last time and go over them individually with you. I will also check in with those who did not turn theirs in!

When you are done, I want you to "interview" one other student in the class using the scoring guide Commonly Asked Interview Questions Worksheet

Put the first student's name on the top of a sheet of a piece of paper and put down the grade as a "A", "B", "C", "D" or "F". Put the second student's name below that and conduct and interview. List who was interviewed and who did the interview.

For the interview, have the person being interviewed smile, shake your hand, introduce themselves, and then "hand" you their evaluation sheet. Ask them three to four of the questions on the Interview Questions Worksheet above. At the conclusion, the person being interviewed should thank you and shake your hand.

When you are all done with the above, please read the article "10 Myths About Job Searching". Create a google doc and name it "10 Myths", put it in your shared folder, and select three of the myths and comment on them.

Sincerely,
Mr. Green-Hite
