Log into CIS again.  Today we will explore what it will take to live on a fixed budget. 

Create a doc called "My_Job"  We will be taking a screen shot of the comparisons in the three areas:  Skills/Work Importance Locator/Interest Profiler.  Then we will get the jobs from the Meyers Briggs section.

Log into CIS again.  Today we will explore what it will take to live on a fixed budget.  To do this, we will be looking at "Work Importance Locator" which is under the "Exploration" tab.  Please screen shot the result, copy and paste into a new doc entitled "Your name_Work Importance Locator".  Save the document in CIS!  We will explore this later as we define the occupation you wish to achieve and what the resulting pay will be.  The occupation will be defined by all of the surveys you took!


Salary Based Budget ~ Follow the slide tutorial found in:
Complete a monthly budget for a minimum wage earner. You will select one of the following jobs and look up the beginning annual wage on slide 3/Step 2 of the tutorial: waiter/waitress/dishwasher; lawn mower, babysitter/ child care worker, barista, retail clerk, gas station attendant, laborer.
We will do this together in class.

1.  How is this video related to PACE? 
2.  How does your body react to stressful situations in a bad way?  In a good way? 
3.  How should you deal with stress or stressful situations to benefit from it?  OR What do you attach to stress so our body benefits? 
4.  How does one find courage or resilience from stress?  

Copy and paste these questions in a new google doc and entitle it "TED Talk:  Make Stress Your Friend" and answer the questions regarding....

We looked at careers using the "Looking At Careers, It’s Never Too Soon" worksheet that will be filled out.  Open it and then make a copy.  The actual video is located at:  Video Link .

We finished doing the CIS "Interest Profiler" that is at the website for CIS The user name is "ddouglas" and the password is "ddhs".  Create an account by going to "My Portfolio".  Use your student id for the user name and then for password put the first letter of your first name capitalized, the first letter of your last name lower case and then your student id number.

We finished going to the tab "Exploration", then "Interest Profiler".  Answer all 172 questions to the best of your ability and then copy and paste the screen(s) (whole thing will not fit on one page) into a document you created named "LastName_Interest_Profiler".

Make sure you did FreeWrite assignment # 5 "How strong is your character" slide. Do only 3-5 traits you have or would like to push for.
  • We took the Meyer's Briggs survey. Copy and paste your results into a Google document: Create a doc and label it: FullName_MeyersBriggs.  We will be further exploring this in more detail later.

We will be doing the CIS "Interest Profiler" that is at the website for CIS The user name is "ddouglas" and the password is "ddhs".  Create an account by going to "My Portfolio".

Go to the tab "Exploration", then "Interest Profiler".  Answer all 172 questions to the best of your ability and then copy and paste the screen(s) (whole thing will not fit on one page) into a document you created named "LastName_Interest_Profiler".

This is the class page/website. Everything we need to know or do is posted here.
Take a few minutes to read the class page below and become familiar with the site.

Note: With a pencil or pen, please complete any handout that has been given to you.
 You will turn in work in one of two ways: 1)  at the end of a task, you will pass your work to the center aisle with your group; 2) work will go into a TURN IN folder found in the class basket or out during class on the book case by the door. 

IMPORTANT DATES TO NOTE:
Mock Interviews will occur on the following dates:
Semester 2 —Thursday and Friday, May 5 and 6
You must attend one of the sessions to receive full credit for the interview.
