Autobiography (Final Copy Due November 3rd)
Please click on this link to open Signal Words and Sentence Frames.
Please click on this link to open the Narrative Writing document.
You will use 3 of the 5 functions of language within your autobiography.
Watch this video after Mr. Green-Hite's presentation. It will help fill in the holes for anything you may have forgotten. It will also help if you missed today's class.

Here is a presentation that breaks down how to piece a paragraph together. This is just an example for an introduction. It is not a full paragraph, but I underlined language from the Elaboration/Description Function...since I chose that function for this paragraph. Remember, you are doing 5 paragraphs for your rough draft...not just an introduction.

Once you are done with your rough draft, go back through and highlight in yellow the key words and/or sample sentence frames you used to create each of your paragraphs. Remember to upload it into Google when you are done for the day, but keep it's Word formatting.

When you have highlighted everything, Copy and paste your paragraphs below your rough draft to create your 5-paragraph autobiography. Make spelling and grammar corrections at this time. Once again, upload it back into Google, but still don't share it with me.

Some notes about grades for the first 6 weeks:
You need to share your assignments. Many have not shared the Autobiography Questions with me. If you haven't shared it, I can't give you a grade...that's why your grade may be lower than you anticipated.
Even if you don't finish an assignment by the time a progress report is due, you can still get it done for full credit.
Because of the number of students and assignments to go over, the Oregon CIS "Who Am I?" assignments are not part of this grade report. They will go into the next 6 weeks.

Remember: Share your assignments with me when you are done.
Don't assume that since I saw you working on it that you get the points.

Sincerely,

Dear Class:

Last class we worked on a very basic budget in Excel. I had you put your title in A1, merge and center it across all of the columns we did, and then left it alone. I had you put in "Items" in A3 followed by "January" in B3 and, using the "fill handle" (little square on the lower left hand of the border), created all the rest of the months to December. The column after that should be "Total". I then had you create 8 items (we did snacks and cell phone together). After you created all of the amounts that were monthly for each item, I had you do the totals. We finished by charting the items and the totals only.

Today, you will be doing a PowerPoint with an intro slide, "Your life" with eight slides total with the second slide using your chart from your excel spreadsheet and titling it "My Budget". You will be inserting sounds, animation, and creating items to use.

When you have read the article that seems to be of the most interest to you, please open a google doc, name it "your name_bullying article" and then answer the following: What was it about, what did you learn, did it surprise you?, does it change what you perceived about bullying as being, and what are your general thoughts about the subject. Dear Class:

Today we will examine the wide world of "Copyright" and "Netiquette". Please go to the Copyright Powerpoint which has been update to Copyright.

You will be completing on the following worksheet. After you finish the worksheet (the slide numbers are not correct so you will have to find the answers on your own!), you will look at slide 40 and analyze the four cases that are provided regarding copyright infringement. Sundeman You will need to make your own copy of the worksheet and share it with me on your google docs.

We will go over the google doc part of this class. For those students unable to get into your account, you will fill it in and print it and hand it in on my desk.

For the analysis of the cases, slide 40 has 4 court cases in reference to Fair Use. Each case name is linked to a google presentation. I want you to create a grid on the back of your worksheet (if you had to print it out) or on a google doc create a grid and analyze whether the Purpose, Nature, Amount and Effect fall under Fair Use, and whether you think the court ruled copyright infringement or not.

Sincerely,
Mr. Green-Hite
