  • Read the article- Thank You Letter Format
  • Work with your partner to find the answers to the 4 questions on the Freewrite #17.  Name the document "Thank You Letter Format" 

 ACTIVITIES:

  1. Read the back pack of Mock Interview Reflection      30-40 minute activity
    Follow the Thank You tutorial below to:
    > Create a first draft of your thank you letter.
    > Proof your letter, then ask your partner to proof your letter.
    > Turn it in at the end of class for grading.
    > You will write your final draft next class. Due end of the week.
  2. Work on your final project- upload resume into presentation, complete slides on Interviewing and Job Preparedness.     ~ 20 - 30 minutes
  3. Start college exploration– handout, MyRoad.
  4. Work on your budget using your chosen career as the job for this activity. Find out how well your job goal will support you.

With a pencil or pen, please complete any handout that has been given to you.
           Mock Interviews are still scheduled for:
                    January 7 ( A day)  & 8 (B day)

Periods 1, 2 & 3- I will have your printed final drafts available (Others with suggested revisions).
Please make the suggested changes and plan to reprint your resume Thursday morning at the Scot's Center. There are only a few computers available so you may not have the ability to fully edit your resume at that time. You can also 
come to the room Wednesday morning from 7:45 and 8:45 to complete any resume revisions and print.

You must have a passing resume to participate in the Mock Interview and be appropriately dressed- no jeans, sweats, athletic attire or t-shirts.

This week, we are completing the following activities related to
 

                                     JOB READINESS/PREPAREDNESS
You will 

  • Finalize your resume and print a copy for the Mock Interview this week (If you haven't already)
  • Have thoughtful responses to the MI questions
  • Explain your knowledge of resume writing by stating the 5 key elements to a resume and the purpose of each element. 

Monday B day SNOW DAY / Tuesday
 A day SNOW DAY     
                           

 WARM-UP: Practice the BIG 4   10 minutes
            Smile, Make Eye Contact, Firm Handshake and Formal Introduction.

  •  Speak in complete sentences as you respond to the questions asked by your partner. (About 10 min.) 

 ACTIVITIES:
  1. Make any final revisions to your resume.  Save file to your Google Drive folder.
    Print a final copy in Word. Class printer is room 220.
    Turn final copy in to the appointed MI folder at the end of the class period in the following order:  Mock Interview evaluation sheet on top, final resume draft below. 
  2. Work on your final project, part 2. I am grading part 1 right now.
  3. Work on your first budget (Salary Based Budget) using your chosen career as the job for this activity. Find out how well your job goal will support you.  
    
Wednesday  A day 
     ACTIVITIES:
  1. Practice the BIG 4   10-15 minutes
    Smile, Make Eye Contact, Firm Handshake and Formal Introduction.
  2. Practice a question you wish to ask your interviewer
  3. At the end, stand up, shake the interviewer's hand and thank him/her.
  4. College search using CIS (I will talk to you about this)
              
Thursday & Friday      MEET AT THE LIBRARY FOYER 
Please be on time, dressed and ready for the interview. 
Leave all personal belongings in your locker. You will not be able to bring them into the library and you will not be able to go to your locker during the class period.    

When you finish your interview, you will return to the foyer and pick up a reflection sheet to complete that day. Turn it in to the top tray by the end of the period. 

You may chat quietly with those who have finished their interview and reflection until the bell rings.

A reminder:   Mock Interview are on Thursday and Friday, January 7 & 8th.  Remember to dress appropriately those days.

It is 2 hour delay on Tuesday, Tomorrow.

You need to practice some of the standard questions that you completed in your shared folder with a classmate.


 ACTIVITIES:

I will be checking in with each of you about your resume.   I need you to fill out the top of your grading sheet for the interview.
