How to Dress for Success presentation by the College and Career staff 

  • Monday, April 11th— Period 7, Period 8
  • Tuesday, April 12th— Period 1, Period 2, Period 4

Mock Interviews will occur on the following dates:
Semester 2 —Thursday and Friday, May 5 and 6
You must attend one of the sessions to receive full credit for the interview.


  1. Continue with the Skills Worksheet to step 4. Follow the tutorial, CIS Skills Activity Instructions found here or down below in Resources.  CIS Login Link
  2. Complete step 5 and create a document called: PDx_FullName_CISSkillsSummary.
    Follow the instructions in the tutorial to find the skills professionals in your chosen occupation say are necessary as well as finding your skills.  You will be making a Venn diagram or table showing your skills, the skills for the job and identify the subset of skills you have for the occupation/job you have chosen. This set will be the basis for your "Skills" section of the resume.

    Your document will have 6 things – a screen shot of your skills, a copy/paste of the skills for the job, Clusters, Holland Personality Types, Top 30 Occupations and your diagram or table. 
  3. Save both your "Skills" and then "Save as new" for the "Skills" of the occupation that you chose.
  4. UP NEXT....  Writing in business language for the resume.

1.  Identify the skills each of these young men possesses to be able to suceed in the areas they did.  Definition of skill:  the ability to do something well; expertise; a particular ability.
2. Are any of these skills innate?  (naturally part of them)?
3.  What is it meant by "penny"?
4.  What are the skills you identified that you had from the video:  What Employers Want?







      What transferable skills do these young men possess to be able to accomplish their goals? Justify your choices.

     Complete Step 5 of the Skills for the job on  CIS -- 20 minutes

  1.        RESUME BUILDING: Writing One-liners for your skills. See Resume tutorial
  2.        Choose 3 skills from your CIS Skills Summary then complete the handout.
