Monday & Tuesday, May 20 & 21, 2013

Thursday, May 16 and Friday, May 17 Dear Class:

Monday, May 20 & Tuesday, May 21— No Freewrite

Learning Targets: Students will Know appropriate (legal and ethical) practices of using other people’s work in all media forms; Identify ways to use work created by others legally and fairly; Know how to assign credit to the originator and cite sources appropriately. Activities~ Watch video on plagiarism and copyright: Plagiarism 2.0: Information Ethics in the Digital Age by Cambridge Educational (~21 mins) and Copyrights by Sunburst Visual Media (~17 mins) We can stop the video at each section to give you time to write down information, if needed.

Complete 2 page handout: Read the instructions and comments on all pages of the DOWNLOAD. Complete the areas of the handout related to the videos first.

After the video is over, click link NETIQUETTE to open the slide presentation that recaps the information on the video. Note: you may need to be logged into your Google account to access this link but it is set up for anyone with the link. Read through these slides and add to your notes any important information missed in the video, but posted on the slides, especially the information on "Fair Use" dealing with media and how much one can use.

When you have completed your notes, follow the instructions at the end of each section, which is simply to use the box to select and arrange the information that you will type into your (final project) slide.

Remember to break up slides by category or topic: Fair Use, Copyright, and Plagiarism. You can use a table, or bullets to present this information. Avoid writing paragraphs; but do write complete thoughts of up to 8 words. Avoid one word statements that are vague. You can also create more than one slide to include your chosen information/content.

If you have time today, create your slides for this section of your final presentation. Type your summarized content from the boxes at the end of each section into the text box of the slides. Remember to give your slide a heading and follow the format.

Proof your text using the Google spell checker. You will turn in your handout at the end of the class period.

I will begin grading/checking in your slides on Wednesday to see what has been completed or as a status check.

Slides projected as due: Title, 3-6 Reflection slides, updated resume (have ready to insert)

Sincerely,

Mr. Green-Hite
