ANNOUNCEMENT: Next week Sophomores will be taking the OAKS READING TEST. Juniors and Seniors you will be working on other assignments. All students need to bring a book to read or other classwork (non computer work) to keep you busy when you finish your test. No one will be able to use the Internet or computer EXCEPT for the OAKS test. Get lots of sleep, eat a healthy breakfast before you come to school and be on time.

This week, you will: identify a job/occupation that you that strongly interests and you wish to pursue from the possibilities presented to you or of your choice (CIS- Skills Assessment>Holland Code, Occupational Cluster, Interest Profiler, Work Locator, Where Am I Going?) generate a job objective that matches your interest or qualifications from your research that includes the Career Learning Area (Cluster Exploration Assignment and Resume Workbook, Step 2 ) learn the requirements of that job: education, skills and experience (Resume Workbook, Step 3 ) list 3-5 of your strongest skills related to the job you chose (CIS handout- from Part B of your outline, Resume Workbook, Step 4)

Part C- COMPARE: Top Skills found in My Preferred Job/Occupation (from OCC in CIS) Go to section Skills Assessment site 1) Find 3-5 jobs of interest from Part A. Look for jobs/occupations that can be found in your combined report, your Holland Code>Occupational Clusters, also check out jobs from the Work Locator. 2) Find the skills set needed for 2 of these jobs by selecting from OCC in CIS. You will find the OCC in the bottom left corner of the Skills Summary page. Select your occupation and the skills will appear.Take a screen shot of the skills set (It has a blue background.) table format. Make sure to label each skill set for the job selected.

Part D- Write a summary statement about the skills you currently possess and those you need to acquire for your preferred job/occupation.

Part E- Click on the links on the left side of your chosen occupation and make screen shots of the page results (see class example). This information will help you complete Step 3 of your Resume Workbook. Compare your Skills and Jobs Summary document with the class example presented. Earn up to 30 points When you finish ...

Go to Resume Workbook pg. 7. Read the instructions for Step 2: Choose a Job Objective and complete as directed adding the Career Learning Area to Part B. Refer to the slide presentation (Slides 5-8) RW from the link in blue seen below.

We will do Step 4: List Your Related Skills and Abilities and Step 5: One Liners together in class Thursday and Friday.
