Learning Targets:
Students will --

  1. Know the five parts to a resume- personal information, job objective, education, work history and skills. 
  2. Know how to structure an effective resume.
  3. Be able to describe skills and abilities in business language.
​Business Language — formal writing that objective, succinct and specific

Business Language resume writing — describes abilities and accomplishments as specific, measurable and concrete experiences, starts with an action verb, avoids slang and personal wording ( No "I" statements.)

     Activities:

Students, you will complete the following today:


  1.        RESUME BUILDING: Writing One-liners for your skills. See Resume tutorial
  2.        Choose 3 skills from your CIS Skills Summary then complete the handout.
  3. Swap with another student; have them look at it!
  4. Bring it up to me to look at and make suggestions.

2.  Job Objective:  Write it according to the Resume Tutorial  Please include the Career Learning Area and the job position you chose in the "CAREER" document.  Create a doc called "Job Objective" and put it there.  You may have to "dumb it down" if your career to too excelled.  Example:  Registered Nurse would be a Nurses Assistant.

3.  Continue with the Final Project "Who am I":  When working on the final project, refer to the slide tutorial in the link. LINK: FINAL PROJECT 2016-17
Create slides.. Finish photoshopped picture and insert in first slide.


     Misc:  Work on final project- fix headings, font layout, graphics
