Learning Targets:
Students will --

  1. Know the five parts to a resume- personal information, job objective, education, work history and skills. 
  2. Know how to structure an effective resume.
  3. Be able to describe skills and abilities in business language.
​Business Language — formal writing that objective, succinct and specific

Business Language resume writing — describes abilities and accomplishments as specific, measurable and concrete experiences, starts with an action verb, avoids slang and personal wording ( No "I" statements.)
IMPORTANT DATES TO REMEMBER:

Mock Interviews will occur on the following dates:
Semester 2 —Thursday and Friday, May 18th and 19th
You must attend one of the sessions to receive full credit for the interview.

If you are absent from class, it is your responsibility to go to the class website, read through the weekly agenda, find the work you missed, and complete it.

Deadline:  Friday, April 28nd.  If you are wishful to get Mt Hood Community College credit, then you need to get admitted to Mt. Hood.  There is a sheet available for this.  Use an email other than your school email!   If you are already admitted to Mt. Hood, then the class is "HD110".  Look up my name at the bottom to find the class.  My name will appear as one of the classes.  Select it and then add.  If you cannot add the class, please go to the Carreer Center next to the counselor office and have them help you add it.

Students must complete the on-line College Now Admission form prior to registering for classes. Admissions and Registration is a 2 step process.
Step 1: Apply for Admissions – Get your MHCC ID number at mhcc.edu/admissions
*Admissions can take up to 5 business days to process
Step 2: Register for classes on-line at mymhcc.edu
*Refer to the College Now Program Manual or Student Handbook on-line at www.mhcc.edu/collegenow for program details.
**Late Registration is not allowed for College Now Classes**

Next week I will remind you again for those that would be then admitted and have you register at that time.

Students, you will complete the following today:


1.  Watch Interview Skills

2.  Interview Questions.  Create a Google Doc titled "Interview_Questions_2" and answer the second 8-15 questions of the second sheet of Interview Questions . 
There should be a paragraph each question.  Fully answer the questions!  I should not see one sentence answers....
3.  Final Resume Building:  An example is on the Resume Tutorial.  You will be handed back your "My Education", "My Work History", and "One-Liners".  Please go to the link below "Resume Template" and download the Resume.  You will put in the information you have on the above sheets in.  At the end of the class, please save to desktop and then upload to your drive.  Delete the version on the desktop.

  • Job Objective — Slides 18-19
  • Education —Slides 20-21
  • Work History — Slides 22-23
  • Skills and One-Liners— Slides 24-28

Print and have another student look at it.  That student will put the period and name on the top.  You will be given a grade for editing!  Hand it back to other individual to refine it.  I want to look at it before it is printed. Print one page today...


4.  Continue with the Final Project "Who am I":  When working on the final project, refer to the slide tutorial in the link. LINK: FINAL PROJECT 2016-17
Create slides.. Finish photoshopped picture and insert in first slide.
