IMPORTANT DATES TO REMEMBER:

Mock Interviews will occur on the following dates:
Semester 2 —Thursday and Friday, January 5 & 6! You must attend one of the sessions to receive full credit for the interview.

If you are absent from class, it is your responsibility to go to the class website, read through the weekly agenda, find the work you missed, and complete it.

Identify work and education experience that is related to work world.
​Identify one strong career potential as your resume objective based upon your research.
Know the five parts to a resume- personal information, job objective, education, work history and skills. 
Good to Know...
TYPES OF DEGREES -  How much post-secondary education do I need? 
Vocabulary:  Skill — the ability to do something well
Personal Skill — ability to perform a task that is applicable in daily living. 
​Ex: Applied general math to modify a recipe
Work Related Skill — ability to perform a specific job or task for a specific job.  
Ex: Creating brochures using Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop
Transferable Skill — ability that is applicable in many job situations; it can be a personal skill.
Ex: Applied general math to create an Excel spreadsheet. 

All Classes
    
1.) Please do Freewrite 14 in your freewrites document "The Skills You Need to Get a Job": Freewrite 14   

2.) "My Education" & "My Work History" should have been done last class but if not, turn it in. 

Read instructions on handout first and then go to the tutorial--How to Write a Resume Tutorial/Instructions and slide 20 Read through to slide 23.  These slides are for the Education and Work History.

Follow the examples on the handout and in the tutorial.  
Relates to Learning Target:  1. Identify work and education experience that is related to work world.

3.) Today, you will be handed the "Step 4: List Your Related Skills and Abilities". See slides 15-18, but particularly slide 19 of the -How to Write a Resume Tutorial.  The instructor will work with you on it (sub on Friday).

DO THIS WHEN YOU FINISH EARLY:  work on any incomplete work first, then your final project. When working on the final project, refer to the slide tutorial we have been following. NEW LINK: FINAL PROJECT 2016
