FRIDAY:

We will watch the Randy Pausch video and I will provide a handout.  Please have the monitors shut off and fill in the handout during the video.  All work up to this point is due!!!!!

MONDAY & TUESDAY

FREEWRITE: FW #3B  3 Million Open Jobs
Video: 60 Minutes: 3 Million Open Jobs Video: ~14 min.

     Respond to these questions.  
Justify your answers with 1-3 specific references from the speakers in the video. Ex: Mr. X says that the employers are looking for …… which indicates that ….   should train employees.
   *Copy these statements onto a piece of paper and take notes during the video.
  1. Based on the speakers in the video, who are the parties responsible for training/educating people for employment and why?
  2. What is your opinion about this matter? Do you agree with them or not? Explain.
  3. Do you think many of your peers are ready for entering the working environment? Why?
  4.  What would you suggest your peers do, to better prepare themselves for work?

ACTIVITIES:
  1. Begin work on the handout: Discovering Me MyRoad~ORA Personality Profile a.k.a. MOPPA . 
Follow the instructions in the MyRoad Slide Tutoriallocated in the sidebar— see slides 8-15 if you have taken the profiler. If not then start at the beginning.
     
  2. Students who worked in groups last week to complete a 3-Way Interview activity—If you have time, you can finish your reflection, which is in a separate folder in their class basket. Turn it in at the end of the class period.

WEDNESDAY  & THURSDAY

Warm-Up:  NO FREEWRITE TODAY

ACTIVITIES:

  1. Watch the first half of the video: Interview of Randy Pausch by Diane Sawyer
    1. You do not need computers for this, so your monitors are off.
    2. Complete the handout as you watch the video.  Please cite specific examples from the video.
       
  2. Continuation of the Discovering Me ~ MOPPA/ORA Personality Profile Analysis handout.
    Students you will want to follow the MyRoad slide tutorial.
    *These are due at the end of the period Thursday and Friday.

     
  3. If you and your 3-Way Interview group members finish the MOPPA, then finish your Reflection handout.
     
  4. Start your QuickStart Careers analysis. Take the test if you have not done so yet. Go to the MyRoad tutorial slides for Careers to learn how to complete the handout.

FRIDAY

Warm-Up: NO FREEWRITE TODAY

Finish watching Randy Pausch video. Turn in handout at the end of the video.
Be ready to share with the class some of your responses from the video.

ACTIVITIES:

  1. Finish the ORA Personality handout and begin/complete the Careers Handout.
                      Students follow the slide tutorial.
  •  Revised Special Assembly Schedule  - Black History Month celebration assembly.  The theme of this assembly is past, present, and future. We will be having performances by many of our students and local community.
