Wednesday & Thursday, October 24 & 25, 2018

Dear Class:
  • Know the acronym PACE, the purpose of this class,  and how it will benefit them.
  • Know how to navigate the class website to complete class work.
  • Understand the value of self-assessments

1.  Today we continue and finish exploring what it will take to live on a fixed budget.

Salary Based Budget ~ Follow the slide tutorial found in:

Complete a monthly budget for a minimum wage earner. You will select one of the following jobs and look up the beginning annual wage on slide 3/Step 2 of the tutorial: waiter/waitress/dishwasher; lawn mower, babysitter/ child care worker, barista, retail clerk, gas station attendant, laborer.  Use the minimum wage of  $12.00 from July 1st.  (Minimum wage currently is $12.00) Wages will be:  In Oregon.

 2.  You will create another Budget but this time you will have to use the base salary of the job you chose for your "My_Job" assignment.  Make a new copy of the Budget spreadsheet and complete.

TWO BUDGETS DUE: One, minimum wage we worked on together; one, based on the starting salary to median salary of the job you picked in the "My_Jobs" assignment.

3.  Last slide has a reflection.  Make a copy and fill out.

I expect you to work all class on this.  If not, and the class does not research the information, I will have to review future assignments to shorten the time necessary to do the work in class and assign it as homework.
