ACTIVITIES for Monday and Tuesday:

WORK ON THE FINAL PROJECT Link-
  • Read and follow the slide tutorial- extra credit is given to those using the storyboards for complex data and arrangement.
  • Build your slides first with content. Add images at the end after you have finished adding content to all of the slides.
  • You should be able to create 2-4 slides per class period if you have done the work and do not seek images to add.    
  • Use ONLY approved websites and sources for images when you add them.

Read the class agenda at the beginning of class.

Should be done or close to done with the first part of the Final Project "Who am I".   Almost 
all the information is in your first free write document.  If not done with "Who am I",
then look through the first part of the Final Project PowerPoint 


ACTIVITIES
 1 >  Think back to your Careers Handout.
        Go to slide 17 of the Final Project Tutorial- Section 2: Who Will I Become.
        Create the following slides--

  • Make a copy of your Venn Diagram from your CIS Skills Summary and paste it into a slide. This is a Venn diagram or table.  What skills do you have for the job?  What skills do you need for the job? Which of your skills match the skills for the job?  
  • Write a plan on how you acquire these on a second slide or how you will broaden these if you do possess them. 
  • Compare your skills listed on your resume to the skills in the middle of your Skills Summary/Venn diagram or table. Write a comparison on a second slide: How does your resume reflect your career objective? 
  • Fix your resume following the Mock Interview to reflect the changes needed.

  • Your chosen career. Describe your career choice based on the information from your “Careers Tree” handout.No storyboard needed. Done in class. From a freewrite.

2 >   IF YOU HAVE NOT ....Write your final draft of a Thank you letter to your interviewer.    Follow the tutorial  20 minutes.
     
  This draft needs to 

  • Be an error free draft in order for you to get the final "card".  It should not have any misspellings, contractions or omitted words. I should show margins to the left and right and lettering large enough for most folks to be able to read..  
  • Include: 2-3 specific and appropriate comments from the back side of your reflection handout.
  • Proof your writing. Have your partner proof your writing. 
  • Commas follow the last name, and "Sincerely".  There is no "th" after the day. Spell out the month/ see the example.
  • Use the interviewer's last name only and Ms. for women.

  • Make a copy of the above document and fill it in.  You will be doing a thank you card based on what you put in this reflection.

    The "Thank You Note" is done specifically according to the above mock interview reflection and the Thank You Note Powerpoint.  Follow the Powerpoint if you have any questions pertaining to the Thank You.  If the final note is not written on card stock within the time allotted you will receive a "0" because the notes are sent out at the same time to each interviewer.

I do not want this printed unless you have permission from me!  The last page is based on what your classes were during your Freshman and Sophomore years and then what you wish to take for Junior and Senior year.  Put in what periods you want to have them during

  • College/Post-Secondary education plan   2 slides
  • Research colleges and post secondary training. 1 -2 slides
