Monday & Tuesday, May 5 & 6, 2014

due May 11
WHEW!!! Mock Interviews are done!!
Congratulations on a job well done to those of you who went through the interview.

We won't rest on our laurels too long. We have the next big step to take: HOW WILL WE ACCOMPLISH OUR GOALS?

We spent the first 6 weeks, exploring who we are. We spent the next 6 weeks, explaining what we want and what we have done and are able to do. So, now we look at developing a plan to achieve our dreams, goals, and aspirations.

Learning Target- Students will reflect what they know about themselves, what they have accomplished and how they will reach their goals.
Students will develop an Education action plan to identify future coursework, skills and personal traits that will help them reach their career or occupational goals.

HOW DO WE GET THERE?
Activities today:
1)  WarmUp: Learn 360 Video 2-
LIFE AFTER HIGH SCHOOL: SUCCEEDING IN THE WORKPLACE video 21:38 minutes

Complete the note taking handout.

2)  Verify that you are on the right track by completing this reflection.
           Freewrite:
Did your resume skills match your 5 Very Important Skills from CIS and did the resume skills match the skills used by folks in your resume job/occupation? Make a comparison to verify:
>  Create a table in your freewrite- 3 colums by 4 rows.
>  In the first row, type the headings for each column- "3 of My Very Important Skills", "My Resume Skills", and "Skills Needed in my Chosen Profession". This also comes from your "Duck" assignment and some can come from the PIAR:Section 3.
>  Make sure that you have an accurate match. Read through each of the descriptions to verify that each skill will relate or is similar to the one you have.
Look at what skills you don't have from the occupations Skills and Abilities section. State those missing skills below your table.
Answer this question: What can you do to acquire these skills in the future?
Describe how you have changed from the first day of PACE A to now, considering the following:
a) Did you know what you wanted to be when you started the class?
b) Were you ready to pursue this job/career?
c) Did you know the difference between a skill and a characteristic and an interest or hobby? If not, do you know now?
d) Provide an example of each one that you currently possess.
From taking the personal inventory assessments and completing the worksheets, what have you learned or gained about your self- knowledge, abilities, self-direction/motivation, etc.?
Be specific with some examples.
What do you know now that you can bring to the workplace that you did not know before?
