• Career Vocabulary:
  ​JOB — A unique work situation or position, paid or unpaid. Activities performed on a regular basis in exchange for payment.
  
  OCCUPATION — A group of related jobs that have similar duties, levels of responsibility, skills, knowledge, and physical demands. CIS uses about 600 occupational titles to describe the labor market.
  
  CLUSTER — A way to group occupations by some common feature. Oregon uses 23 clusters to group occupations into five broad categories called Career Learning Areas.
  ​Career Learning Areas can help you focus on skills and knowledge related to your career goals and education plans.
  
  CAREER — The combination of learning and work that a person pursues during his or her life. 

 Activities: Students, you will work on the following today:

    1.  Thoughtfully complete the PACE Job Readiness Skills Reflection.  ~ 10 min.

• Consider how your current experiences in school affect your job readiness.

      2.  Complete the double-sided handout on My Education & My Work History. 

• Read instructions on handout first.
• Follow the examples on the handout and in the tutorial --How to Write a Resume Tutorial/Instructions.  Go to the slide 20 and read through slide 23. 
• When you have completed this, swap with your partner/neighbor and grade each other's work. Person grading should write their name at the top right corner:

1. The Right Job For Your Personality Video  ~ 10 min.
   Complete the online handout and make sure it is in your Google Doc folder!
2. 1. Personality Type - Take the Work Importance Locator survey in CIS, save results and spend several minutes examining results. Check out at least 2-3 careers/occupations in each category.  Make sure you hit "Save" for those careers/occupations that you are interested in.  You may be using one for your resume objective.
3. Review Combined Results.
   Make Final Project slides for Interest Profiler and this slide.   20 minutes

Thursday & Friday:      FreeWrites/Warm-Up: Budget Vocabulary Test:  Take the test after you hit the "Create new test" and then copy and paste into a blank document titled "Budget Vocabulary Test" with your score.  10 min                                     Activities: Students, you will work on the following today: Take the  CIS Interest Profiler Assessment- Save your results in your shared folder. ✓ Login to CIS for Oregon-  If you forgot your login, go to your "Interest Profiler CIS" document in your folder to locate information in your Interest Profiler Assessment. ✓ Open the CIS for Oregon tutorial. Go to slide 17 and follow the instructions to restore your survey. ~ 5 min ​ Meyer's Briggs handout is due today.  Explore career options~ Identify 3 careers best suited to your personality type. Research these careers to determine if they suit your interests. Go to Budget Vocabulary Flashcard Practice and click the "Scatter" link at the top. See how many words you can match to their definitions.  Test later this week.                                     Activities: Students, you will work on the following today: Are you an Eyore or a Tigger?  Be inspired to follow your dreams. ✓ Watch video: An Interview with Randy Pausch ~ 45 min. ✓ Complete the reflection handout as you watch. You will be meeting with your counselors soon.  As a preliminary, I want you to create a document entitled:  Next Year's Classes.  Create a table with two columns and 9 rows.  In the top rows, put in Semester 1 and Semester 2. Create next years two semester's classes that you dream about...

We will be looking at careers using the "Looking At Careers, It’s Never Too Soon" worksheet that will be filled out.  You need to "open with" google docs.  The actual video is located at:  Video Link .

• Warm-Up: Take the Meyer's Briggs survey. Copy and paste your results into a Google document: Create a doc and label it: FullName_MeyersBriggs.  You will follow the instructions on "Taking the Meyer's Briggs".

 Please complete the Budget Reflection.  Second Copy Budget Reflection Make a copy, delete the "Copy of" and put your name in its place.  This should take no longer than 15 minutes

We will be doing the CIS "Interest Profiler" that is at the website for CIS The user name is "ddouglas" and the password is "ddhs".  You need to create an account.  When you get done creating the account, and pasted in the "Interest Profiler", put your user name and password above the pasted picture.  This is required!   Go to the tab "Exploration", then "Interest Profiler".  Answer all 172 questions to the best of your ability and then copy and paste the screen(s) (whole thing will not fit on one page) into a document you created named "LastName_Interest_Profiler".  You may have to redo...sorry....
