2.  Today we will explore what it will take to live on a fixed budget.  We had done this before with a monthly budget for a minimum wage earner and then your salary based on the job that you put on your resume.  However, I want you to now use minimum wage ($11.25/Hr) and then the amount you would make if you got the job from your resume.  Run the below Salary Based Budget according to the instructions given on the link.  Make a copy of their budget.

3.  I will show a couple of previous powerpoints/slideshows from the past as examples.  Complete 3 slides related to post-secondary planning--

4.  Citations:  Use MLA at this site:  Library

5.  Taking picture of Resume.  We will use PrintScreen for the snapshot and then crop it down.  I will illustrate in class.

Side Note)  Applying for admission to Mount Hood Community College for "College Now".  You need to use your personal email as a David Douglas HS email will not allow for outside the DDSD emails to come through and that means that you will not get your student id number to register for the class in two weeks.  This is done at this site:  Mt Hood CC

If you are already admitted to Mt. Hood or received a student id number when your applied for admission, then the class is "HD110" section "80".  My name will appear as one of the classes.  Select it and then add for Winter term 2018.

New Section we will be starting:

1.  Link "Why College?".  Make a copy of the document to be filled in.

"A" = 4 colleges, universities, trade schools or other "learning institutions".
"B" = 3 of the same
"C" = 2 of the same

 I will also be doing "participation" points for this activity.  If I see that you have done all of your research for the rest of your life in less than 2 periods, then you are not really giving the assignment any type of evaluation and as such I will deduct points for work being done.

   Complete the handout as directed. "Why College?"

How to do it?  Go to CIS, sign in.  Go to "Occupations"; "Explore Occupations" and select the occupation you used for your Summary in your resume.  On the left side, go down until you see the "Programs of Study"; select which one.  Select the area of your occupation you are interested in.  On the left side column, choose "Oregon Schools" or "US Schools" to explore and complete the "Why College?" template provided above.

You have to explore at least two schools even if you do not plan on attending a higher institution.  Things happen... sometimes for the better...sometimes for the worse.  You need to be prepared!
