1.  Freewrite #9 - Thoughts for the Day.  Freewrites link.  Follow the instructions on the slide for Freewrite #9.  Put the information into the next cell of your freewrite document.

2.   We are adding to the "My_Jobs" document today.  That will now create a document that will encompass Interest Profiler/Importance Locator/Skills/Meyers Briggs/Character/ Filter/Sort and Combined Report which are in the Occupations tab. We will be choosing an "Occupation" from that group of job lists.  Label each as you copy and paste them in.  Go to  CIS and look at the descriptions of the occupations you might be interested in and any jobs you don't know what they do.  I want to see you working on it!!!!

Three other copies today:  Filter, Sort and Combined Report.  Will do together.... (Occupations Tab)

I want to see one specific occupation and two backups!  For the specific job, I would you to write at minimum of three paragraphs as to why you chose that occupation.  Look at the quick view of that occupation in CIS to see the pay, outlook, numbers, etc.  Remember, the amount of pay is "median" and not top or low.

Look at "Order by Cluster" if you need to back up and look at more general terms for grouping.


3.  We will do a Careers Analysis for your career.

4.  Probably will not get to the Skills for the Job PowerPoint.
Finally, we will be creating a Venn Diagram using the Skills you came up with in your skills selection and then you will do an "OCC" select to get the skills of the job you selected.  You will look at the top 15 skills and do a Venn Diagram based on those selections.

Create a doc called Skills_Venn_Diagram and create it in there by inserting and object/circle and we will go from there.

• Instructions: Read through the statements on the handout before watching the video.
• Complete the Google Doc "Randy Pausch Lecture" as you watch the video.
• Write in complete thoughts as your note-taking strategy
• TURN IN THE GOOGLE DOC AT THE END OF THE VIDEO/PERIOD BY MAKING SURE IT IS IN YOUR FOLDER!  MAKE A COPY AND FILL IN.

2.  Log into CIS again.  Finish what skills you have or want to develop.  To do this, we will be looking at "Skills" which is under the "Exploration" tab.  Please screen shot the result, copy and paste into a new doc entitled "My_Skills".  We will explore this later as we define the occupation you wish to achieve and what the resulting skills will be.  The occupation will be defined by all of the surveys you took!  Make sure you check to see what the definition of the skills are.  You cannot make a determination of what skills you choose unless you know what they mean!  I will probably have a quiz regarding them later on.

We will watch a short article on the integration of personality tests and job applications here.
I want you to have a reason for you to have looked at these tests as a whole to refine a job search.

1.    Watch "TED Talk:  Make Stress Your Friend".   
How is this video related to PACE? 
 

1.   How does your body react to stressful situations in a bad way?  In a good way? 
2. How should you deal with stress or stressful situations to benefit from it?  OR What do you attach to stress so our body benefits? 
3. How does one find courage or resilience from stress?  

Copy and paste these questions in a new google doc and entitle it "TED Talk:  Make Stress Your Friend" and answer the questions regarding....

1.   Do FreeWrite assignment # 7 "The Right Job For Your Personality" slide. Do the questions on the slide in your freewrites document.

2.  Log into CIS again.  Today we will continue to explore what it will take to live on a fixed budget.  To do this, we will be looking at "Reality Check" which is under the "Occupations" tab.  Please screen shot the result, copy and paste into a new doc entitled "Your name_Reality_Check".  We will explore this further as we define the occupation you wish to achieve and what the resulting pay will be.  The occupation will be defined by all of the surveys you took!

(To get the file back you saved, go to "My Portfolio", then "Sort and Assessment Results", and then "Restore Answer".

Three Million Open Jobs in US

 Three million open jobs in U.S., but who's qualified?  Create a blank document and name it:  Last Name_Three_Million_Open_Jobs

Respond to these questions.
Justify your answer with a reference from the video.

A.   Based on the speakers in the video, who are the parties responsible for training/educating people for employment and why?

B.  What is your opinion about this matter? Do you agree with them or not? Explain.

C.  Do you think many of your peers are ready for entering the working environment? Why?

D.  What would you suggest they do to better prepare themselves for work?

Copy and paste your results into a Google document: Create a doc and label it: FullName_MeyersBriggs.  Select the "careers" button and copy the jobs they suggest given your personality.  Then, one to two paragraphs as to whether these jobs align with other ones you have looked at thus far.  Look for commonalities...differences...things tolerated...education to be obtained.

1.   Do  FreeWrite  FW #4    What Kind of Learner Am I?   Copy the results into your FW (1st column under date) and answer the questions on the slide..

2.   Finish  Go into the document you created named "LastName_Interest_Profiler".  Click on the top "Interest" and choose three jobs that you feel would fit you and copy them below the Interest Profile snapshot.  Explain in two paragraphs why this "Interest" fits you and why you feel these jobs are within your realm.
 

3.   We may get to the Meyer's Briggs survey. Copy and paste your results into a Google document: Create a doc and label it: FullName_MeyersBriggs.  We will be further exploring this in more detail later.  Go to Careers and copy and paste careers there.  Evaluate in 1 to 2 paragraphs!
